New found& obsession: Abbot Kinney First Friday Walk

Just like the description on its website, I saw the AV clothing and instantly fell in love with it and can’t tell you why. It is more the garment attracts me—the material looks broken but feels super soft and comfortable; the design is young, energetic but retro and vintage—just like the classic aviator glasses. With Californiainspiration, this store perfectly transfers a love for beach, sunshine, sports. It becomes my obsession once I found it. This store is going to be huge!

Tommy Santee Klaws

Tris and I walked into Robin’sSculpture Garden and found out this band by accident. Walking along with the alley, we saw a group of people surrounded a bonfire listening to Tommy Santee Klaws. Drinking beers, making marshmallows, and listening to TSK’s beautiful music in this tropical feeling garden, that was such a chill out experience and almost feel surreal. Most importantly, their music is good- simple but incredibly harmonious and well blended with different elements-bell, horns and kazoos. They sound casual but with a technical professionalism. Not only one element feels out of the place. I really didn’t know anything about them after I searched them online. When I hear the gorgeous sound and glass-melting voice from the band members, whom slightly and casually swing with the music as they sing, I was transfixed—that was the vocal from heaven.

Truck

The DogTown, Flying Pig, Nom nom Truck, Yum Yum Truck, Calbi Taco Truck….I saw the most amount of trucks in one place the first time, and all of them are BUSY. I tried the Portobello cheese vegetarian hot dog at the DogTown, after I don’t know how long a time since the last time I had a hot dog. Loved it! Besides, there was crepe and cupcakes truck. The SKYBOX airstreammakeup truck brings truck business to the extreme. The whole truck was an airstream and the inside is a makeup salon!

I am glad that I explored the Venice Beach Abbot Kinney First Friday. Arts and crafts, vintage, stylish but young clothing, good music, authentic food joint, nice people crowd, environmental conscious, vegetarian, oriental, OMG, aren’t they all what I’m interested?
