Happy Pink's Night

The last time I tried Pink’s was at the Lupe Fiasco concert without realizing LA’s Pink’s institution yet.

I’ve been hearing so much about Pink’s Hot Dog and people’s been making Pink’s such a big issue out of it. Thursday night finally I got a chance to try this most infamous hot dog stand.

A strong and tempting smell of grease and onion flirted with our appetite right after we walked outside the parking lot. The people waiting were surprisingly sparse, although there was still an “S” line out there. The front panel was full of Pink's super special items, which I think are creative and kind of overwhelming, with names very Los Angelesish such as the “Hollywood Planet” Dog, the Lord of the "RINGS" Dog. I was increasingly hungry as I got to the final stretch to the sideways to order and observing more and more specialties.

After 30 mins waiting, we finally got our order: two Patt Morrison Baja Veggie Dogs, one Ozzy Spicy Dog, one “Hollywood Planet”, and one Martha Steward Dog. What a heavy, messy but evilly tempting party on the plate, like any other traditional American food!

All their dogs were pretty decent. I like to eat the Ozzy Spicy Dog with their chilly sauce and the yellow chilly pepper (specific emphasis), which is surprisingly hot and spicy. The Martha Steward Dog with sauerkraut is my favorite.

Thirty mins later, we killed the whole plate that filled with meat, chilies, onions, tomatoes and cheese....

Having been in the city for almost 70 years, Pink’s has grown to be another LA identity.

I would give my rate 6.5 out 10. If you by any chance visit LA and get sick of all the other restaurants and want to try something local, make Pink’s on your list!
